In New Orleans, walking to the bar on Sunday afternoon, we discovered her, directing traffic at a busy intersection with a whip, cigarette, and attitude. If you squint, you can see her tips tucked into her garter. I loved her–I think this is my favorite photo from the weekend. Here’s today’s poem, inspired by her.
