My Runway Monday final collection is due…well, any minute. However, there’s been a whole lot of life happening in the month of October, so I’m still putting my final designs together. Since no one’s going to award me $100,000 from L’Oréal Paris to start my own line, a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine, a 2013 Lexus GS 350, a $50,000 technology suite by HP and Intel to create my own vision and run my business, and the opportunity to design and sell an exclusive collection at Lord & Taylor…I don’t feel too guilty about taking a few hours more to finish my collection.
Meanwhile, in the spirit of recognizing the past, here’s what’s on the desk in front of me while I sew:
The Sucrets tin that was with all the rest of my mother’s sewing supplies.
Open it up and you see:
For some reason, I can never find a needle when I need one. They’re all in my mom’s sewing stash in sundry jars and tins secreted in a hidden compartment in the seat of her sewing machine chair. As for your designs, even this season’s designers were having last minute assembly problems.
I have lots of needle stashes, too. I’m betting I’d have fun going through your mother’s sewing stash.
Those designers–I know they had less time than is usually given on PR, but the amount of last-minute changes and meltdowns seemed excessive!
I know you would. She also had three quart mayo jars full of buttons (ninty-four years worth) that I gave to my sister-in-law and nieces.
My mother didn’t have anywhere near that many buttons! Buttons are fun to look at, too.
i LOVE old sewing notions!!!!
We need to go antiquing sometime. Haven’t done that in forever.
I love sowing old notions!
Ha ha ha! Clever.
lets! i’m ready – plus it is time to do some Christmas shopping – only 9 weeks…
EEEEK!
