She had a busy day today

Doesn’t it bite when you’ve set a full agenda for yourself throughout a day, then you wake up way later than you’d planned, and you feel behind all day? Still, I’m getting it done. And though I woke up past the breakfast hour, I think I prepared a healthy lunch to see me through:

Hope you’re having a great and productive day.

    1. I don’t understand what you mean. The egg yolks? Yes, I do. I don’t have cholesterol problems, and I like them. I also don’t eat eggs every day; if I did, I’d probably give half my yolks to the dogs.

      1. Recent studies show that yolks don’t contribute to high cholesterol levels. But other studies show that yolks greatly contribute to Type 2 diabetes. In other words, we’re all gonna die.

  1. I had a similar day today. Set out with my itemized ready-to-be-checked-off list and then made an unscheduled stop at the newly-opened Guitar Center here in Huntsville. Monumentally bad idea.

I’ve had a bad case of GAS (Guitar Acquisition Syndrome) for weeks now. I think I played every acoustic they had in the store. It took no time for today’s to-do list to become tomorrow’s agenda. The guitar sales hawk kept circling and dropping these deeply discounted offers, deeper even than I’ve been able to find online. I resisted and left victorious with the cash still safely clasped in my money clip.

I immediately left the store and went to see my guitar teacher to tell what a good boy I’d been. This was my second bad idea of the day. He had two selections of the exact guitar I was goosed to buy in house. Then he made an offer better than I heard all day. I countered, and back and forth we went we went for an hour.

I put on my shades, pulled my Alabama ball cap low over my face, and skulked from the store with a brand new Martin D-28 Marquis for a price I thought impossible. I made it back to my office at 5:00 p.m. and good for nothing except clocking out so I could come home and play. Only the aroma of my Dad’s mom’s biscuits smell better than a brand new Adirondack red spruce, East Indian rosewood Martin guitar. If a tree has to be something other than a tree, it should always be a guitar.

Now I have two days to get three-days of work done…and a new guitar. What a really good bad day. I’ll be worthless all weekend. Now, to tell Lynn.

Guitars will get you through tough times of no money better than money will get you through tough times of no guitars.

    1. This is pretty much my favorite story of the day. Sometimes I forget what a good writer you always were. I don’t know WHY you guys made me write the answers to all those freaking English Lit questions for you.

      Congratulations on your new acquisition!
