That’s like my dad’s clock, with the broken pendulum, on my piano. But when I want to “feel like home”, I can push the chime lever and listen to it go “BONG – BONG – BONG”.
I have a brass bell–easily over a hundred years old–that belonged to my grandfather from his schoolteacher years. Like my mother before me, every time I dust, I’m compelled to ring that bell when I pick it up.
