If you knew me in the 1990s, you might remember that I once had a business selling products I designed to make people feel good–primarily lotions, creams, and bath products using essential oils. I also took the little boxes sold at craft stores and hand-painted them to sell or give away. I called them “Affirmation Boxes,” because each box contains 12 affirmations on hearts and butterflies cut out of paper reused from gift paper and magazines. When I saw that today’s 30 Days’ theme was “cardboard boxes,” I went looking and found ten remaining boxes, sprucing up a few of them with fresh paint.
Do you ever feel the need for a little affirmation? The first ten people who e-mail a shipping address to becky@beckycochrane.com can have one of these Affirmation Boxes as my gift for sticking with me through 29 days of creating. I especially appreciate your supportive emails and comments. FREE STUFF!
I love these!
Thanks!
OMG, the minute I saw your creative entry that “Little Boxes” song started going through my head and now it will never stop! Love the Affirmation Boxes, but after 953 times I hate the song. One day to go.
Thanks for the love.
Are you talking about the song they used on the first seasons of “Weeds?”
I seem to be taking a fiendish delight in the idea that the Affirmation Boxes gave you an ear worm. I’ve had one in my head for days that won’t go away–I have no idea how it got there, though.
Yes, that was the one they used for Weeds. The first season or so they used the original by Malvina Renyolds who wrote it back in the 60’s for Pete Seeger. Then each week a different artist or group did it. I (unfortunately) remember the original Pete Seeger recording.

You know, Seeger was pretty damn good!
Great idea. I think I’ll round up some boxes and have some on hand. Do you ever leave them anonymously? I guess after a while, people might figure out. I think I’ll start my new school year (only 4 weeks away) dropping some off in each of my buildings.
Thanks! I think being Secret Susie sounds like a good idea. =)
Thank you so much for the awesome box of affirmations. I got it! The box is beautiful and came on a good day: my dad has recently started treatment of cancer and I went to spend time with my parents today and give my mom a hand. So it was really a timely gift. I’m delighted with the art work, the affirmations in their various sizes and patterns and the size of the whole box. Thank you, thank you!
I’m glad they arrived and you’re happy with them. I feel for you and your family with the challenges of cancer treatment. Sending tons of good thoughts for remission and healing.
