- The keen sense to hear any food container (dish, bag, wrapper, lid) opening several rooms away while simultaneously not hearing “no,” “this isn’t for you,” “drop it,” and “shutupshutupshutupshutup”
- A belief that next time, you’ll get that squirrel
- Certainty that an ear rub is a peak experience
- Equal certainty that a bath is not a peak experience

I think most lifeforms on this planet have some dislike of
smokealarms that also go off after I take a shower or open the oven even though nothing is burning inside. But, when they genuinely do detect smoke, we can be thankful we got the tip to run for the hills from that very alarm that was sacrificed.I don’t like the noise, but their ears are so much more sensitive, poor things.
