Noooo! It’s not an attention problem. It’s because I’m Southern.
Many years ago, one of my buddies described this propensity with a sound bite from the TV sitcom “Dharma and Greg.”
(Note if you’re not familiar with the show: Greg, a lawyer, was definitely not a Southerner, but Dharma’s hijinks led to his having to maintain the facade or possibly lose an important case being tried before a Southern judge.)
I’m not southern and it is an attention problem, but I don’t always blow the stack. I usually do get back to the start of it all and try to make sense of everything. I can never imitate Sam’s southern drawl, especially with his disgust of presumably childhood trailer park dramatrauma. Every time I try do so, “Trahliahahahr,” I get the giggles instead. So, there goes what would have been my acting career!
I probably would have relished Sam’s storytelling.
