Shots rang out on campus morn
On April sixteenth
[fifteen years ago]
Who’d have thought fifteen years later, that story would have been repeated so many times.
Stats found online:
As of April 2022: There have been 22 school shootings this year. There have been 114 school shootings since 2018, when Education Week began tracking such incidents. The highest number of shootings, 34, occurred last year. There were 10 shootings in 2020, and 24 each in 2019 and 2018.
Figures released in August 2021, show that since the April, 20, 1999 Columbine shooting, there have been a total of 304 fatal school shootings and counting.
I think the last one here was in 1996 – touch wood!
