Word

To those of you who sit next to your fireplace on an autumn evening, toasting your toes while a steaming mug of coffee, tea, or cocoa, or perhaps a glass of red wine, sits next to you, and you let your book fall to your lap as you stare into the flames, then you hear yourself thinking, Sewing clothes for a Barbie doll? How hard could THAT be?

I have one word for you.

Hahahahahahahahahaha.

  1. When Aidan was little I made a couple button-up shirts for him, using a store-bought shirt as a pattern. Attaching & turning the little collar bits…
I can’t imagine doing BARBIE clothes. Since she’s so much skinnier than even a normal doll, I think I would end up knocking on my neighbor’s door, asking them ‘please cut this tiny freaking dress loose from my hands and oh sorry about bleeding on your porch’.

  2. How hard could THAT be?

I know that every time I ask myself that question, I’m in trouble!

Nowadays I have enough wisdom to be grateful I’m something turns out to be easier or even as hard as I thought it would be. However, I’m no longer surprised if I discover something is more difficult or at least takes longer than I thought it would. Just accepting that reality helps me to keep my sense of humor. Usually, I’ll think, “This probably should take this long”, and then I’ll discover that it took longer to do than I expected. Probably the worst situation to find oneself in is when your boss thinks something should be easy or only take so long. Good luck trying to convince them otherwise! “But to do this right, it takes a certain amount of time . . .” “No, no, no. The problem isn’t the task! It’s you!”
