Bugs Bunny as a Southern belle.
On this day in 1937, Margaret Mitchell won the Pulitzer Prize in fiction for Gone With The Wind. Below is one of my favorite photos from the book Scarlett, Rhett, and a Cast of Thousands by Roland Flamini.
While filming the delivery of Melanie’s baby, Vivien Leigh and Olivia de Havilland posed for this photograph and sent it to Margaret Mitchell. Her husband, John Marsh, wrote back saying Olivia de Havilland looked exactly like Margaret Mitchell when she was writing the novel.

Ahahahaha! Love those girls. ♥ Can you imagine a finer tribute as a writer? I can’t.
thanks for sharing that snippet! Big hurray for Margaret!
I love that pic!
Another good book is “Scarlett Fever.”
I can never read enough about “Gone with the Wind”!
That is a neat photo! And it was really cool they did it for her.
Check out Pat Conroy’s remarks about GWTW. I remembered some of this article, but was amazed to discover I forgot about him being approached to write the sequel. http://archives.cnn.com/2000/books/news/02/04/pat.conroy/
thanks for posting the link! I love Pat Conroy, and I would have loved to have read his book. Hearing what he has to say about GWTW is great.
You’re welcome! I love Pat Conroy too. I can’t wait for his next novel.
Cutie-pie, you must come join the pithology in. Your pith is needed!
Keep it punchy and all is zen, yo. 😉 The Russians are diggity-doggin’ it.
This makes me uncomfortable: they all can read English. Then they start quipping in cyrillic… I have no idea.
They get our jokes and we don’t get theirs — that’s so wrong! D:
If it’s any consolation, I rarely understand anything you’re saying, my PQ. : )
I just joined. It looks like a really interesting community.
That picture’s one of the best crack-ups going. That Olivia could hold a straight face during that is pretty impressive.
Witty and wonderful!
Thanks for sharing.
