There may be carpet to be pulled up and new flooring to be installed, walls to be touched up or painted, an entire house to be cleaned top to bottom, and endless other jobs to be done before moving in, but the first thing Tom and I did in the new house after the seller was out was have a little fire in the fireplace. Who cares if it’s Houston and too warm this December for a fire? We have our priorities. =)
SO excited for y’all!
Thank you!
That’s a beautiful fireplace! …and look at those bookshelves!
I’m guessing that this is some of the carpet that’s going to be pulled up? Is that a bathroom or a mud room or something else that’s between the fireplace and the shelves? I can’t wait to see more after this little tease!
We love the bookshelves, too. Yes, the carpet is going. Actually, in that room, it’s gone. I’ll have to get over there today and photograph what they found beneath it before it’s covered up again!
That is a bathroom you’re seeing through the doorway. It’s next to your room. 😉
Can’t wait to see it! Huzzah!
We’ll leave a light on for you!
And those bookcases!!!!
I know! =)
The Fireplace next to The Bookcases 🙂
I can already tell that’s going to be my favorite place to read.
It already has the makings of a good whodunit. 🙂
and you have a mantle. It’s the little things in life that bring us joy.
The whole fireplace probably was added later, and we’re a little bemused by its contrasts–the black granite hearth, the small tan tile, the antique mantle that they must have found later and put there because they liked it. The nice thing is that the mantle, at least, in style matches the antique love seat and chair I picked up a couple of years ago. Can’t wait to see them in that room!
That’s Lovely! I love the fireplace … and I covet your bookcases.
Thank you! There really can never be enough bookcases, can there?
PS … I think you should have a contest to name the new place.
We did get suggestions in comments once. I think the reason we haven’t settled on anything is because we have to live there first and see what occurs to us organically. The Compound didn’t become The Compound for two years, though both the house and apartment had their own names.
Can’t wait September seems so far away!
It’ll be here before you know it!
And now, all it needs is the people … and pups.
I know. We haven’t taken any of the dogs to see it yet. We’re very curious about how our seniors will make the transition.
NO one commented on the wall paper… hmmm… needs the head to go with it. that will do it.
No, I’m sure you’re wrong.
can’t wait to see all of this in person!!!
Hey–soon we’ll have a whole truck of stuff to unpack and put in the house. Why don’t you come handle that? I’ve heard you do that for people. 😉
only if you’re moving to palm springs.
Damn.
It looks lovely. I have to admit that moving jacks up my anxiety like few other things, but you’re making it look joyful.
Don’t kid yourself–my anxiety level is 11. You notice there are no photos of my haggard face anywhere. =)
Looks great! And bookshelves!!
