Sunday Sundries

I’ve had mermaids on my mind all day, and I wasn’t sure why. A quick bout of errand running with Tom and Debby, and later a text exchange with Jim, only reinforced my mermaid mood. This evening, I put together a photo collage of the items you see above.

That’s my 1992 Mermaid Barbie in a bowl full of shells. Both bowl and shells are abundant with stories. Clockwise from the bottom left: the Aqua Summersus Underwater Tarot deck, gift from Jim last year; a box covered with shells I’ve shared on here before–it also has its stories; a Mermaid Coloring book; a pink art glass conch shell from our late friend Jeff; and from Lynne sometime during the 1990s, a tiny glass case of miniature sea shells and preserved sea creatures (the tiny starfish Barbie’s holding goes with that collection).

Yesterday and today, the skies brought us what Northern Native Americans call April’s full moon, the pink moon (for early blooming wildflowers). Coastal Native Americans call April’s full moon the fish moon, the traditional time for some species of fish to spawn and swim upstream.

The theme seems to have to come together on its own, giving me a week of possibilities to explore.
