Today’s challenge is “a song you like that’s a cover by another artist.” This just serves as a reminder to myself that I haven’t replaced one of my favorite drowned albums, as pictured here after the Harvey flood of 2017.
The song is “Blue Bayou,” written by Roy Orbison and Joe Melson and covered by Linda Ronstadt. Here’s a live version.

Go West – Village People
better than a whole album of Various Artists – For the Masses, which was full of Depeche Mode songs, covered.

I love the Pet Shop Boys! Most of the bands, including Pet Shop Boys, I know from 80s music that weren’t Prince, Madonna, et al (a/k/a mainstream popular in the U.S.), I discovered later through Timothy, except R.E.M., B-52s, and Beastie Boys. Those were through my oldest nephew (who’s one year older than Tim). The Eighties were their formative years, and they’re still way ahead of me in that decade and every decade since.
I love PSB too – and love the references to them in the TJB books.
That was so fun to do and definitely broadened my musical horizons. I’m not sure which of us settled on the idea, but I do know Timothy and I were listening to PSB non-stop during the writing of Nick’s novel.
