Current Photo Friday theme: Futuristic
In 1996, Barbie and Ken joined Kirk and Spock on the bridge of the Starship Enterprise to celebrate the 30th anniversary of “Star Trek’s” television debut. I don’t believe that in 1966, anyone looking toward a future in space imagined that here on Earth, the TV show would launch all the subsequent series, movies, Hallmark ornaments, dolls and toys, costumes, or fan gatherings and enthusiasm the franchise still enjoys.
Live long and prosper!
Is Ken supposed to be Chekov or Sulu? I don’t think he’s being Kirk number 2 when Barbie is in red, like Uhura?
I’m going with he’s Chekov’s stunt double.
lol, well, it’s all cosplay so if he’s neither then he could be playing Kirk number 2 and poor Spock will just have to live with the incomprehensible illogical logic of
humansfans that photobombed the Enterprise.Spock will figure it out in the long run. This made me think of a favorite quote: Harry S. Truman — “The only thing new in the world is the history you do not know.”
For Spock, the only thing new in the Universe is the logic he hasn’t uncovered. HE WILL.
I never understand the appeal of all of the comicons one sees advertised, but I guess they must be big money spinners.
Maybe they replaced the fancy masquerade balls of yore. Or we never outgrow wanting to play dress-up. Or maybe we just never outgrow wanting to play and seek ways to do it.
