Caught on camera

This little criminal has figured out how to breach security and get into the writing sanctuary whenever he wants.

Just Jack.

  1. When I was at my parents’ home, we had a gate across the door of my room at the time (mainly to keep curious dogs from chewing my wires to my computer and stereo). It had a swinging gate that latched at the top so we humans can go through but cute loving sadly doggies could not. They just lay there at the gate waiting. So, when I moved out, I pulled off the gate and invited them into the empty room. They didn’t understand it was fine to go inside. I had to really encourage them into the room! Only then would they run in and sniff around like curious dogs once more. But, it was all to say goodbye until the next time I visit and the heartfelt welcome they gave. Now, they have both passed away and my parents have a Shitzu in their home that has picked up on many of the traits those King Charles Spaniels had, as if they left behind encoded messages of all their memories there for the next dog.

    1. It’s funny all the information dogs pick up from their environment and also easy to believe the former dogs leave clues and advice that only dog senses can detect.

The gate to the sanctuary is like the one you describe, but the latch at the top sometimes doesn’t catch or is easily jostled, and Jack is adept at jostling it. He cracks me up.

      1. I think the alignment may be off? I found that sometimes the gate we had wouldn’t latch at all or be difficult to open without some tweaking. I blamed the door frame for that, because it was a pocket door that slid into the wall but it seemed to be closer at the top of the gate than the bottom.

        1. I agree; we have two gates, one on each guest bedroom, and the other one seems to be much stronger and better aligned. No way could Jack bust through that one. Well… yet!
