I was preparing to put away the Halloween decorations for the year when I felt compelled to let these two hands clasp. Perhaps I was reminded of William Faulkner’s story “A Rose for Emily.”

I don’t know that one. I will have to read it. The last Faulkner I read was my re-read of As I Lay Dying.
I admire your ability to read Faulkner’s novels!
That might be the only one I have read! I know some people read The Sound and the Fury, but I am sure that I didn’t.
Faulkner literally gave me a headache back when I was a voracious reader, especially of literature. I never revisited them as a more mature reader. There are SO MANY books to read or that I intend to read that trying again with Faulkner is a low priority.
I’ve learned that I’m not the only person who has stalled reading fiction because of the pandemic. I know I’ll resume when I’m ready. I finally read three short novels this year, and I could tell I still wasn’t ready.
I have a ton of books waiting for me.
