Today, we are learning about Frederick Douglass in the grassy/quilty version of the old one-room schoolhouse.
Anime and Delta look pretty into it, probably because they’re older. Jack the teenager is too cool for school and looking around for mischief.
Then it seemed to get more interesting. While Anime began to read ahead, Delta and Jack listened intently, and even little Eva decided to attend class.
They were fine with me wearing PJs.
The book is David W. Blight’s Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom, released in 2018. It earned the 2019 Pulitzer Prize in history and the 2019 Gilder Lehrman Lincoln Prize.
