Did you know this is a real thing every April 15? I’m not sure how it originated, but 2020, not really the best year for the world, decided to help me join in the celebration.
Today I was laid off from my job at the animal rescue where I’ve worked for more than six years. Losing my job is an experience I’m sharing with around 22 million of my fellow citizens because of COVID-19. While it’s sad for me, I can keep my perspective when I think of others who are struggling far more than I am, and especially when I think of the ill and the dying and the people who love them.
I decided to see if we’d ever done a transport on That Sucks Day, and the closest was April 14, 2016. Here’s the group shot from that day. Group shot photos always make me smile.
Maybe someone designated April 15 That Sucks Day because it’s traditionally tax day in the US (extended this year to July because of the virus), because it was the day Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, or because it was the day the Titanic sank. There’s even a site about the suckage of things, but it hasn’t been updated since 2007, fine evidence of how things can suck.
As for me…we’ll see what comes next. I hope you are all well and things are sucking for you as little as possible.
