I thought they were cobwebs for a minute, but I think maybe they’re scratches?
Yes, that is an old chest that belonged to my mother. It used to sit under a window in Tim’s old apartment, and those scratches are from many dogs’ toenails as they watched the world from that window. EZ, all his fosters, Rex, Pixie, and Penny, too. I could make the scratches go away, but I sort of love the history of it all.
In which case, keep the scratches. It is far more precious as it is.
