Just kidding. We didn’t have any transports this week due to the holiday.
This seems like a good time to make an announcement. Sometime after the beginning of 2020, thanks to management’s support and approval, I’ll stop being the person who takes photos at the transports. After six years, and now that we’re doing two transports a week, with an increasingly larger number of animals leaving, it’s more than I can handle. This has always been a volunteer job and a labor of love. And I do mean love, because the people I work with including the staff, drivers, and board, the vets, volunteers, and fosters, and especially the animals, have a deep and abiding place in my heart.
In order to do my paid job for the rescue and also return some balance to my private life, it’s time to let another person manage an entire volunteer team to handle photos. I’ll still go to transport, although maybe not every transport. I would miss everyone too much to stay away.
Doing this will enable me to travel over the next year, which is a big priority for me. There are friends and family I want to see, and I can do my actual job from anywhere I can take my laptop and get an Internet connection. It’ll be a good change and one I know the people of my life will appreciate.
Meanwhile, here’s a photo from this past October to feature just a few of the people who fill my life with inspiration and joy. I think I’ll miss taking the group shot most of all, though it truly is even more challenging than herding cats. =)

Maybe next year I’ll sometimes do “Transport Throwback” and feature more of the terrific humans I’ve worked with through the last six years because their efforts have saved more than 40,000 lives…and counting.
Very wise. I am so glad to read this.
Please know that you will always be welcome in Wool, Dorset, England. I know it’s not likely to be in the near future, but the invitation is open. And the view of the water meadows from the guest bedroom will be waiting for you and Tom.
