Nearly a year ago I posted this photo of the bins on my carport:
And then in May, I finally started going through them and purging stuff:
Mother Nature was tired of my mess. I’m forced to go through them now, especially because some of them are full of water and the contents have been destroyed. But hey, THESE guys showed up in one of those bins, and they’re okay.
In the library, I also had a big wooden chest full of toys that Lila and Hanley used to play with when they came over. Those toys are okay.
But tons of “important” papers? A big soggy lump of wetness in the bottom of my filing cabinet.
Lesson: playing is better than adulting.
I hope you haven’t lost anything important?
Sunday night I had to face the loss of some things that truly are irreplaceable. That’s been my hardest night. But I’ll be okay. Thank you.
I wonder if a fire box of “important” things is waterproof. I would think so, since the water would be needed to put out the fire to see if the contents survived. I don’t want to ever have to find out though.
I think if papers are really important or items have high value, they probably should be stored in a safe deposit box.
