Uh oh. I did that when Sam was going through Chemo in 2001. I bought myself all the crayons I could find too. I totally stopped when he passed away. I look at the crayons in the closet, and pnder taking up coloring again, to see if it can be fun again, and then I think if something else to do instead. I thought I may never be able to rid myself of crayons nor actually use them. Then, I moved in an apartment that can’t make up its mind which side is hot or cold water. I yanked out a Crayola Standard Blue and Red and with great satisfaction drew on the walls to indicate the hot and cold or cold and hot. It turned out my shower was at fault.
Funny how something so simple can have so many stories and feelings wrapped around it–and ultimately, a practical purpose that–well, really, I’m a writer. Everything is metaphorical.
I really need to start colouring the book that Chris gave me for Christmas 2015…
Does coloring relax you? Apparently it agitates some people. But it’s always provided a calming activity for me.
