It was Monday from start to finish. I’m sure the fact that I don’t feel well affects my perspective, but today has sorely tested my good will and my good efforts.
What makes me happy is this silly bin of freshly laundered dog toys ready for the next transport. They may look a bit bedraggled but that’s because they’ve been greatly loved. Every dog gets a toy to travel with. S/He can play with it, bite it, or snuggle with it, but it’s hers or his for the journey (and sometimes when the toys are sent by their Houston fosters, they go with the dogs to their Colorado foster and forever homes). Occasionally they’re too loved and they have to be retired, but there are always fresh toys provided by donors.
Sometimes when we’re getting everything we need on a journey, it’s also good to have a reminder to play.
Do the puppies get to keep their toys?
They could keep them if they wanted them, but all they really want is to leave the crates and the vans and get held and petted and loved on by the people waiting for them. It’s been a long trip for them.
Sometimes fosters send bags or envelopes with their fosters to the people who’ll be taking them in CO, and if those have toys in them, they go with the pups and cats.
I’ll scrub some of the toys Renee doesn’t play with anymore and send them to you for RPM. Every dog deserves at least one toy.
Thank you. I know they will be greatly loved.
When I adopted Renee, they gave her a little stuffed boy toy to take home.
Awww. I think I still have the collar that was on Margot when we picked her up from her foster home. That was such a happy day for us. =)
Ooh! Love this! I’ll have the girls pick out a few fun pup toys next time we go to the pet store to stare at (beg mom for a ) Chameleon! They have a summer camp next week…. So I’ll even deliver!
YAY! Love getting toys donated for the puppers, but if I get to see you, too–BONUS! Thanks. Your blankies are being used. I haven’t covered the cushions yet.
