Now, I really had to laugh at that button.
You can relate?
In more ways than ever. A couple of weeks ago I was at my local stupidmarket and the sound system was piping out Mantovani rock versions of Big Country’s greatest hits. Two teen bag boys were stuffing groceries into the bags. One said to the other, “That song might even be danceable if it had a beat.” I know, did Big Country even have a greatest hit?
I had to look this up… 🙂

All that goes through my head from that band is something along the lines of “were in a big country…” or something like that over and over. Apparently, they had 3 top 10 singles in England in the 80’s.
They had a LOT of music. I’ve probably heard some of it but just never knew who I was hearing.
one of the best songs of the 80’s

I’m so ashamed. I didn’t know Big Country. Was that Eighties? I missed a lot of Eighties stuff.
I try to bring my headphones and my own music player, but largely to really IGNORE the relentless attack of advertizing that interrupts their music at awkward moments. Kroger (in Blacksburg, VA) and Wegmans (in NoVA) were good at this. But in a Wawa gas station near where I used to work –every 2 minutes– there would be some recording interrupting their music about how awesome their coffee is and some incredibly useful tip about gas caps and watching out for people who are afraid of gas pumps.
With all those “sales” interruptions, what music are they playing???
Who knows. That annoys me in Kroger, too. You know what I do like, though? The way the lights are off in the various cases unless someone walks by, then they light up. I always feel like I’m in a video when that happens. Unlike Tim, however, I’ve never broken into song in the aisles. Probably because he has a great singing voice and I do not.
I’ve seen those in the grocery sections of Target as well. They are so cool!
Apparently, this answers the question about the light inside the refrigerator when the door closes. It stays on until you walk away ;).
Now we know!
My favorite store will always be the Piggly Wiggly … because anything could happen down at the Piggly Wiggly… It just sounds good to my ears.
Whenever I travel back to the homeland, if I see a Piggly Wiggly, I take its photo. I miss Piggly Wigglys.
