Why can’t it be both? The word, even if I can’t decipher it, could very well be “news,” and the graffiti artist may call himself “News.” He could be creating art that has his tag in it–many do.
Thanks, Ruben. When I researched it to try to get more info (the night I posted the photo), I found one site that named the artist as “News.” But I didn’t know that’s also the word in the painting. I still don’t see the letters for “NEWS,” but I’ll definitely take your word for it.

that says NEWS , he is either from San Antonio or Austin not sure , but this particular piece was done back in 2009

If that says NEWS, it has to be written in Polish.
News in Polish is Wiadomości, which just might be what’s in the artwork.
