Silly dog

Margot’s new year is off to a rousing start.

I’m not sure mine is all that auspicious, either, but at least I don’t have to wear an Elizabethan collar.

It’s a case of lick granuloma, if you’re curious. We think she had a little too much holiday excitement.

      1. What I like on this product is the disclaimer, “Some pets may be able to maneuver around any collar.” It’s like they’ve met Margot.

  1. Poor Margot! Scruff was licking his paws excessively before Christmas, so we took him to the vet, got some ointment for the same value of a small country’s national debt, and he stopped. He’s doing it again now…

    1. Poor Margot! At least this cone looks a little more flexible than the white plastic ones.
Mark, Phoebe and Tod both lick their feet periodically, and I give them a benadryl tablet once or twice a day and it seems to help. I don’t know if it would help Scruff or not, but it’s pretty inexpensive (at least over here) if it does work.

      1. Sometimes I don’t know what I’d do without Benadryl with Guinness. She doesn’t have to take it regularly anymore, but it can sure help with itching. It just makes her sleep a lot.

Sugar got a transparent cone of shame once. I don’t know why it’s taken them so long to think of that, because to me the worst thing about the cone is how it blocks their vision.

        1. I’d be so lucky as to have it make my dogs sleepy. If it did, they’d each get a dose before I tried to sleep after work. 😉

          1. Pusher!

It really does knock Guinness out, so I use it sparingly. Though I think she likes sleeping every minute that doesn’t involve food.

    2. Same with Margot. What started as an apparent hot spot seemed to be healing up. Then she began licking it again, and now she has an antibiotic, a cream, and a collar–as well as possible laser treatments in her future. I need to win the lottery.
