I can assure you, I did NOT steal a flower from my neighbor’s garden.
In any case, poems are meant to be universal, not a biography of my day/life. A neighbor is a gift. A neighbor whose garden gives you a flower is a second gift.
exactly what I would expect a poet/flower thief to say.
