When the extreme heat and this dry spell began, I started putting out a pan filled with water for the birds. Now in the morning, the sparrows and robins sit on the back lawn with their mouths open starring at the back door waiting for me to refill the pan.
Today an entire squirrel family of four joined the sparrows, robins, cardinals and starlings around my little watering pan. And I now have to refill it three times a day. 103 again today.

You’re so kind. Lynne has watered a wooded area behind Green Acres for the same reason. The birds and bunnies need water, too!

I hope your heatwave breaks soon!
They’re all cheeky guys – we have dozens here at Kew.
Isn’t this little fellow’s tail kind of sad? Without a big, bushy tail, there’s not much separating him from a rat.
