Another reminder that we are sister cities, though we don’t have the romance of New Orleans, Galveston, Charleston, or Savannah. (I suppose some people might add Mobile to that mix.)
This is actually the front and back of the same marker. It’s in a section with a lot of children, but they didn’t all die within the same time period, so apparently they didn’t die from a catastrophic event (train accident, for example, or an epidemic).
Here’s a better look at it. I think it’s interesting that the flowers and doll placed on the grave are relatively new. I wonder if they are from a family descendent or from someone who has just adopted this particular marker/grave.
I totally missed this one, must have been busy wondering where you wandered off to. This grave marker is unlike any I have ever seen, but it does sort of look like New Orleans.
Actually, now that I’m thinking about it, this grave is not with the other children’s graves. This one is next to the main road, I think, closer to the entrance to the cemetery.
Delesdernier is an old New Orleans name.

I love old cemeteries and how elaborate the markers are. These are both really beautiful! I’ve never seen iron ones before.
