I have to ask: Is that headstone real? It seems so real that it borders on being unreal. And it makes me so sad.
Yes. It is sad. It’s the headstone of Leonard Matlovich in Congressional Cemetery. If you have some time, I blogged about it back in July 2007: http://beckycochrane.com/2007/07/04/one-of-my-heroes/
🙁 And, I have to work with a bunch of mindless jerks (namely U.S. Marines) who don’t get it and probably never will. Daily. I wish freedom of speech allowed me to print this and hang it on my office wall and the testing area. (Or should I say, freedom of paycheck.)
We can dream of better–and fairer days–and sometimes dreams do come true.
… and the dreams
that you dare to dream
really do come true …
😉
(BTW, is there a setting in wordpress that sends out E-Mail notifications automatically like LJ did whenever someone replies to a comment? I have a feeling this would soak up your bandwidth though. I thought that was why the E-Mail address was required if I didn’t have an account in wordpress.)
I’m not sure. I wonder if you subscribed to this blog (which would give you new posts via email), if it would also email you follow-up comments?
