Give me one line, one line only, from a favorite song or poem, that contains a visual image.
Thank you.

visual? to me anyway…
the first one that came to mind:
“she put a hole through my kevlar soul”
“How can a light that burns so brightly, suddenly burn so pale?”
(Art Garfunkel, ‘Bright Eyes’)
and now all the bunnies are dying and I’m in tears.
Funny (ish?) story. When I was a child (not that this has changed), I struggled to fall asleep. I was eventually diagnosed with a “why” but for my parents, it was horrible. I just couldn’t lie there and drift off. I had to think all my thinks before I could wind down enough, and if I had a neat fantasy or daydream, I’d be stuck until midnight or later.
But music helped. And one song that always seemed to work was “Bright Eyes.”
Imagine my surprise, upon reaching young adulthood, to realize my parents had chosen to attempt to knock me out with the song all about Death. Especially when it was later also revealed to be Bunny Death, to boot!
I like your parents.. they’re … dark.
Heh. That’s one word for them.
Other great ‘Nathan snoozey hits:
“Piano Man,” Billy Joel
“The Lady of Shalot,” Loreena McKennitt
and
“Strawberry Fields,” the Beatles
I think they were just desperate for anything to make me fall asleep.
No “Feed My Frankenstein” by Mr Cooper?
“Werewolf of London?”
“Devil Woman”
“Don’t Pay the Ferryman?”
“Don’t Fear the Reaper” was on there, too, now that you’ve triggered the
traumamemory.“The lady in red is dancing with me…”
(Chris De Burgh/”Lady in Red”)
“The wild gander leads his flock through the cool night…”
Leaves of Grass
Walt Whitman
Now I love to feel that warm southern rain
Just to hear it fall is the sweetest sounding thing
Ben Harper I always have to steal my kisses from you
Sorry I went with two lines … take the first …
“I’m just a mirror of a mirror of myself.”
Least Complicated = Indigo Girls (cuz I’m just a cliche of a cliche of myself)
Oooh! Oooh! Good choice!
“Wearing the face
That she keeps in a jar
By the door.
Who is it for?”
“Eleanor Rigby”
I like this:
I shall not be destined to remain in one spot long enough to take a hatred of any four particular bed-posts.
Hope it’s okay, that I cheated (is this a game?). It’s not a poem or song, but a letter, from Keats to Shelley. : )
Once he reached for something golden hanging from a tree and his hand came down empty
Tapestry by Carole Kingg
“I am writing graffiti on your body, I am drawing the story of how hard we tried.”
-Ani Difranco: Both Hands
“And a dress, dress, dress that I’ve been sick on.”
“Skin and Bone,” by The Sundays
