Button Sunday

I love this button, though it makes no sense unless you realize that the poetic term for a flock of crows is “a murder of crows.”

I’m not calling Marika and Lisa a couple of crows, but I did get some postcards from Marika during Lisa’s recent visit to her in which much was implied about Lisa’s intent to do grievous bodily injury to Marika. The means included pillow “therapy” for Marika from the night nurse, pushing Marika from a mountain overlook, and shoving Marika in front of a moving train.

I could speculate about Lisa’s motives, but I prefer to think it was all part of the lively imagination that drives Marika to write mysteries. Because it sounded as if everything were fine when Lisa and Marika sent a card with leaves enclosed so I could enjoy a little of the fall that I don’t get in hot Houston.

Thanks!

Gratuitous addition of mini Mr. Goodbar to the photo because Marika is a brat.

Button Sunday

It’s official. There’s no place they won’t show up. Even though I don’t watch their shows, read their news, look at their photos, or check their social media, last night I dreamed I was friends with Kim Kardashian. I hope I don’t get billed for her time, though I guess I could pay in dream money.

Yes, it still matters

It’s the twenty-fifth anniversary of National Coming Out Day, and the theme is “Coming Out Still Matters.” If you don’t think it does, I urge you to read the information available on the Human Rights Campaign web site. Being honest about oneself is an act of courage. Don’t do it until you’re ready, and once you are, my wish is that you have a good support system in place. With that in mind, it remains important for advocates for and allies of the LGBT community to be equally visible. There’s also a guide on the HRC site for straight allies.

To all my LGBT friends who’ve shared themselves and their stories with me, thank you for your trust. You always have a safe place with me.
