On the most recent episode of Lifetime’s Project Runway All Stars, the designers were asked to create a look inspired by disco. Taking a Nine West Shoe as their inspiration, their outfit was to be appropriate for a current-day disco party.
Though Nine West doesn’t design for Monsters, Mattel had exactly the shoe I was hoping for.
I chose as my model the werecat sister Purrsephone. I wanted to give her an updated look, creating in white lace the body-hugging silhouette of 1970s disco jumpsuits. But instead of letting the design flare into wide-bottomed pants, I gave her a younger look with a flared black crepe skirt at the drop waist of the dress.
Old school disco.
She wants to put on her boogie shoes–and boogie with you.
Hope you’ve enjoyed the look. See you next time on the runway!

Huzzah for Thursday Night Fever … you did Donna Summer, the Ritchie Family and Village People proud with your design. BTW, did you notice that one of the designers is wearing his eye-glasses upside down?
Thanks!
I didn’t notice Anthony Ryan’s glasses being upside down. Why is he doing that?
Who knows what evil lurks in the mind of a PR All Star?
I think it was Kayne.
Oh. I googled it because I didn’t see it, and a couple of the websites I looked at asked why Anthony Ryan was wearing his glasses upside down. Either way, I didn’t see it and can’t imagine why.
Okay, went back and watched the show through the Karl Lagerfeld message, which is where I saw Anthony Ryan wearing his glasses upside down while they were watching the video. He was probably just being goofy; it didn’t look like there are lenses in those glasses, they seemed to be just an accessory.
I can tell you the evil that lurks in mine–it mostly has to do with needles that stab me and fabric that slips when I’m cutting.
I was surprised by this design. When I saw those shoes, I somehow thought about roller skates and disco. Then, I looked at your design (yeay scroll bars!) and thought, ABBA

Thanks–I suppose if the design evokes ABBA, then I’ve achieved a disco effect. =)
Very cool!!! I especially like the top.
Thanks, Gary! =)
