“These were the reasons Jake knew he loved her. He watched all of Downton Abbey with her and only fell asleep a few times. He loaned her the use of his truck whenever she needed it. The night she talked him into eating escargot, he thought it was funny when she then said, ‘No way! I’m not putting a snail in my mouth!’ He liked spending time with her family, the biggest collection of eccentrics he’d ever met. He used the word ‘eccentrics’ to describe her family when there were certainly more accurate words.”

From Vincent’s novel Everything’s Jake.

I take photos. I write. My volunteer job is taking photos of rescued dogs and cats transported by the rescue group whose records I manage. Since working and volunteering don’t leave me a lot of time to write, I’m spending 2017 borrowing from what these dogs and cats are writing. They said it’s okay.
