That House 2

The not-so-slow evolution of the master bedroom.

One day Tom spent more hours at the new house than I expected considering what he’d told me he’d be doing there. In fact, he was doing a home improvement project I didn’t know about.

This is an angle showing the master bedroom right after the seller moved out.

Tom painted it very close to the same blue that’s in our current Compound bedroom as a Christmas surprise. And thanks to our hardworking flooring guys, no more carpet!

Janet, if you’re seeing this, you might remember this switch plate you gave us one year. It was on the mud porch at The Compound. There aren’t many light switches like this in the new house, so Tom put it in the bedroom where the contrast against the blue wall shows it off. =)

    1. This year they were almost all gifts of the heart–of the intangible kind! Selling and buying a house during the holiday season is not something I recommend! No time or money for shopping! No decorating! But I did listen to lots of Christmas music. =)

      1. We did the same thing for my Aunt who had to suddenly sell her house (due to a job loss) and move to TX to help her son’s new born. The baby is likely to have down syndrome, and it just survived the flu and heart surgery! But that house… ugh! It looked like a beat up old rental! The dishwasher was broken for almost 10 years, and I made the mistake to open the door and stick my head in there to find out why. Phew! Also, we ended up painting all the rooms, remove the dirt in all the windows, repair the toilets, etc. The new owner will no doubt get rid of the carpet, but at lest for now that will be the least of the fix ups.

    1. It feels like I’ve been waiting forever. Yet I know when this house is empty, leaving it will hit me hard. At least I’ll be too busy to mope!

  1. Tom is a Christmas Angel! And LOVE the switch plate what a really great and unique gift! Now I am going to have to start thinking about a housewarming gift … hmmmmm
