Veterans Day

I shot this photo from my car last week (I was stopped at a traffic light) and thought today was a good opportunity to share it in honor of veterans like my father and brother.

Every time I think I’ll have time to write a post, something else happens. October was a busy month and November promises to be more of the same. So I’m sharing catch-up photos from the past few weeks.

Here are Sarah Beth and Gina Ann the day of their transport getting their travel collars. They arrived safely in Colorado and were adopted the same weekend.

Tim shot this photo with my camera at last week’s transport, and I love it. These are the transport toys that are very loved.

This envelope contains the papers that make it official. We no longer own The Compound. We are tenants until we move into our new home in December.

I do have photos of the new house, but since the seller is still living there and it’s filled with his possessions, I think it would be rude to splash those over the Internet. However, here you can see one of my favorite things about the new property: room for dogs to run. Pollock and Pixie in particular are going to love this.

Meanwhile, we’re putting a lot of our stuff that’s already boxed or binned in storage, including, as I think I mentioned, all the dolls. The other day I pulled up to the storage room and this was on the ground outside. It looks like a gruesome crime scene from “CSI: Mattel!” Fortunately, it didn’t come from one of mine, as they are all still securely packed away.

This is Betsy. Tom and I gave her her freedom ride out of BARC.

We are also fostering her. She’s a breed I’d never heard of: podengo pequeno mix. She’s a little over a year old and as sweet as she can be. She enjoys a peaceful coexistence with Margot and Guinness.

Betsy leaves Thursday for Colorado. It’s been a pleasure to share our home–or the home we’re renting–as part of her journey to her forever home.

  1. Molly lost most of her backyard when her humans (my parents) moved to Colorado. I think she still dreams of that yard, because I’ve seen her swinging her legs in the air while she slept during family visits. Michelle, she just runs like mad back and forth, sometimes enticing Molly to chase after her. But, never mention “squirrel” or they will run as fast as the floor will let them to the doggy door and out. So, I agree that your dogs will love the yard, and the sunshine. Do I see grass in that yard? 🙂

    1. Yes, but everyone keeps telling me its days are numbered because of the dogs.

Our current yard was enough for the dachshunds and is enough for Margot and Guinness, especially now that they’re seniors. But it is nowhere near what Pixie, Penny, and Pollock need. I can’t wait to see them in that yard. =)

  2. you always have the front yard for your grass fix. think of all the plants that could go back there! and the flower beds! and a fountain! and a pond! and a herb garden! and… oh, wait… that’s my yard…

Unfortunately, St. Augustine grass (which is what is more than likely what that is) while it is pretty, it doesn’t like a lot of traffic… you can always fence off a part close to your patio for your enjoyment.

i am so happy for all of you!

    1. Thank you! You know how it will go with the yard. First it will be good. Then it will be bad. Then I will be desperate. Then I will say, “LYNNE! COME AND HELP!” And you will. =)

    1. Thanks! I can’t wait to move in! I keep calling that one room the Lisa Suite, and Lindsey keeps scoffing and saying, “Whatever. That’s our room.” And Marika is laying claim to it, too. You’ll be fighting for those stolen hotel soaps!

    1. Oh, life would be terrible without him. The biggest selling point of the property besides the neighborhood was the wonderful apartment that comes with it. More photos to come when it’s actually all ours!

      1. How wonderful to have a house and an apartment! I should get one for Mum and Dad in a few years!

Timothy is very lucky to have such good friends as you and Tom.
