IMO, self-centeredness is okay. It’s very difficult not to be self-centered since you’re the person you’re around the most. I think it’s rare to find people capable of being centered around someone or something else. Meanwhile, there is a big difference between being self-centered and self-absorbed. In terms of social animals versus lone hunters: The former meaning you’re the person in charge of making sure you get enough. The latter meaning you’re the person in charge of making sure you get everything.
