Rebellion at The Compound

When in the course of canine events it becomes necessary for two dogs to protest the wearing of stupid bandanas…

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all dogs are endowed with certain inalienable rights that include naps, treats, and the pursuit of cats.

Margot and Guinness wish everyone a happy and bandana-free July 4.

    1. Trust me, both treats were given. Otherwise it’d have been Concord and Lexington all up in here.

  1. The things dogs endure for treats these days…

I was watching an episode of Futureama that featured screaming cats in a bag for a deceased Pharaoh. One of my parents’ dogs was napping on the couch, flipped herself completely over, dived off the couch and darted out the doggie door in super-pursuit mode. Failing to find cats, she came back in, jumped on the couch and tried to get back to her nap. Meanwhile, I backtracked the DVD just to play the sequence again. This time, she dived to the TV and barked her head off.

    1. Ha, poor dog. My dogs rarely pay attention to anything on TV. Also, Guinness and Margot haven’t grown up with a doorbell, so when Lynne’s dogs were over once and a doorbell sounded on TV and they started barking, I was all, “Shhhh. Don’t teach my dogs what that sound is!”

  2. Dash holds these truths to be self evident, that he is endowed with certain inalienable rights that include visits to Oma and Opa’s, treats, and the opportunity for Marika shaming whenever possible

  3. My dogs were very happy that I had to work and have been bad about doing holiday themed photos lately.

    1. But your dogs never look like they’re suffering, more like they’re enduring. Margot always acts like we’re killing her when the camera is directed her way.
