Legacy Writing 365:256

Today is my dear friend and (sometime) writing partner Jim’s birthday.

“Yay!”

Jim and I have been friends for fifteen years now.

“Huzzah.”

In all those years, I have never sung to Jim in my Tina Turner voice.

“Bummer.”

So today…

“Are you? Well, ARE YOU?”

Nope, not going to do it today, either.

“You are a beast.”

I know! I hope you have a very happy birthday, Jim. Thank you for fifteen years of making me laugh my tonsils out, sharing deep and serious conversations, and talking me down when my stress buttons get pushed by politics. You’re the greatest.

“Water? I hardly know her.”

  1. thank you so much! I appreciate this so much. I love that I look so young in all the pics… probably because I was!!! thanks again, Beck… It’s my honor to be your friend.

  2. I think my fave is us walking through the water fountain… wasn’t that hysterical? we escaped that with hardly a drop of water falling on us!!!

  3. Now I want to hear you sing in your Tina Turner voice. You know, when I was in my teens Ike and Tina Turner played every week at the Club Imperial which was only five blocks from my house. Though my mom liked Tina, she said “decent” folk didn’t go to places like that.

    1. NO ONE will hear me sing in my Tina Turner voice.

Didn’t your teenage self ever sneak those few blocks to hear Ike and Tina?
