There must be a boy!

Sometime this weekend I need to coerce someone into watching this movie with me.

If you know me, you might be thinking, How many times can she cackle at “Rex Stetson” and Thelma Ritter? Or sing along to “You Are My Inspiration” and “You Lied?” Hasn’t she seen that movie enough damn times?

Maybe. But not with my jolliest Christmas present ever from Tom sitting next to me:

Doris Day is fine, but Mattel did an amazing job on my man Rock Hudson.

  1. This is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE movies!! If nothing else, for the fashions! Maybe we can set up syncro-viewing. You watch in Texas and I watch in Maine. 🙂

    1. You’re so right about the fashion. That’s one of many reasons why I love Rear Window, too–Grace Kelly is a dream in all those outfits.

  2. I immediately thought of you whenI saw these in the store. I would almost buy it myself just for the Rock doll!! I ADORE all the Rock Hudson/Doris Day movies, so I would watch it as many times as you wanted if I was closer.

    1. I wish there were more of those movies. Recently watched “The Thrill of It All” with her and James Garner–eek, so outdated in attitude toward women and work–but I still had fun watching it for the silliness, the fashion, the sets.

      1. I totally agree. I wish there were more, too. There was another one with her and James Gardener that I really enjoyed, too. It had Polly Bergen in it too. I think Doris Day was his first wife who came back from the dead and he had married Polly Bergen. Did you watch the one with Jude Law and David Hyde Pierce that was kind of a spoof of the Rock/Doris moives? Law was the Rock character and Pierce was the Tony Randall character.

        1. I think Down With Love is the one you’re talking about. Yes, I saw it! Rene Zellweger was in the DD role. The other movie–where DD comes back from the dead–is Move Over Darling, another of my favorites.
